Firstly, for any of my followers, sorry for not posting for a while, work has been super busy and i will get back to it soon.
Why it doesn’t matter that much for others
A while ago a friend told me i had perhaps made a mistake by doing this as a blog rather than a website. Being a bit slow he had to explain his point.
Blogs – Apparently blogs are the regularly updated expressions of their writers. The emphasis being on current information.
Websites – They have content which, to a much greater degree, is timeless; there to educate and inform.
Based on this i had to unfortunately admit i should have done a website -- My objective was always insights, reflections, and stories about the foreigner in Taiwan that would inform, entertain and hopefully be an invaluable source of learning about the culture and mistakes to avoid. There are more than 200 posts here, all of which are as valuable as another regardless of when they are written.

Uh, a website can be a blog and vice versa.
There are plenty of blogs out there with pillar content that is timeless. Timeless simply means relevant information, regardless of how much it's aged. This does not have any relationship as to how the information is presented.
If it's valuable timeless, unique and interesting content, whether it's on a blog or 'website' (static?) it'll still show up on search engines.
I wouldn't worry too much about this friend's advice.
Blogs are very diverse these days, you'd be suprised how similar some of the larger sites' content management systems are to what most people regard as a traditional blog.
Yeah, I'm not sure I understand your point. Just keep doing what you do man. I read every post you wrote because I found it so interesting.
Of course, a website or blog with a more navigable format couldn't hurt.
